Can I install Goalpost on more than one of my devices?
You can run the Goalpost app on all your devices, without incurring extra charges. This can be useful, for example,
for running the app on home and work computers as well as on your mobile devices.
You must enter the same email address when installing the app on each device, otherwise it won't recognise
you as being a valid user and it won't be able to retrieve your purchased language modules.
Does Goalpost need mobile data or wi-fi?
Goalpost only requires mobile data / wi-fi when setting up for the first time or for when you wish to purchase new language lessons.
For playing the language audio, it does not require Internet access, so you can use Goalpost, for example, when travelling.
Does Goalpost use Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
Goalpost is guaranteed 100% free of AI. Artificial Intelligence is not used in the creation or running of Goalpost. Only human intelligence is used.
You many have read the hype about AI-driven courses. These provide a conversational approach, like Goalpost, but there are five major disadvantages, compared to Goalpost:
- AI requires you to give clearly audible spoken responses, so not possible to use while traveling or commuting. Goalpost engages you in conversational speech but makes it optional whether you speak
your response out aloud or just think up your response silently in your head.
- The AI responds to what you say, which means that for a beginner it is restricted by your limited grasp of the language. Goalpost builds your skill-set through modules which provide specific
themes, thus combining expertly guided teaching with developing your conversational ability.
- Many AI courses are web based, which means you can't use them without access to wi-fi. This can be a problem when traveling or commuting. Goalpost, by contrast, does not depend on wi-fi.
- Most AI services will be subscription-based to cover their costs. Goalpost by contrast is a one-off payment per module. You will always have access to the courses, even if you uninstall the app and reinstall it at a later date.
- All Goalpost's courses, for whatever language, are built on exactly the same sequence of subject matter, so if you do want to learn more than one language, you will find it much easier to learn the others
through familiarity, and through the ability to directly compare one language's way of
saying things to another, particularly useful in closely-related languages, such as Spanish and Italian.
Beware of gimmicks!
Beware of apps with fancy graphics and other gimmicks, deliberately simplified to give you an inflated sense of your progress, which may soon be shattered when you have to speak the language in real life.
Goalpost tries to encourage you by making things easy, but it doesn't stay stuck on easy, constantly pushing you gently forwards towards the real encouragment, which is finding out you can actually understand people and engage in conversation in their native language.
